JOB DESCRIPTION
Intern - Inside Sales
Start Your US SaaS Sales Career From Gurgaon. Six Months, a Real Number, a Full-Time Seat.
| Department | Revenue, Inside Sales |
| Reports To | Team Lead, Inside Sales |
| Location | Gurgaon, on site |
| Work timings | US hours. Your day starts in the evening IST and runs into the night |
| Program length | 6 months as an Intern - Sales Development Representative, then a formal conversion review |
| Converts to | Sales Development Representative, full time |
| Market | Single-rooftop US car dealers and small groups of 1 to 5 stores |
| Product | Studio AI, our visual merchandising product for dealer inventory |
About Spyne
Spyne builds AI software for US car dealerships. Studio AI turns phone-shot vehicle images into retail-ready merchandising in minutes. Vini AI is a conversational agent that handles dealership sales and service calls, web leads, follow-up and scheduling. Both are live, both are growing, and almost all of it is sold over the phone from Gurgaon.
| Stage | Series B, $25M+ raised from Accel, Vertex Ventures and Storm Ventures |
| Dealerships live | 2,000+, from under 200 in 2023 |
| Market covered | Under 3% of the roughly 70,000 US rooftops (NADA, Urban Science) |
| Revenue mix | Large majority from the US |
| Systems integrations | 70+ across CRM, DMS, inventory, service and finance |
| Team | 200+, primarily India-based |
Every one of those 2,000 dealers started as a cold call from Gurgaon: someone found the store, got past the front desk and booked the meeting. That is the seat you would be stepping into, and it is the seat that built the company.
What We Offer
| During the program | A fixed monthly stipend plus a variable tied to qualified meetings that show. You earn on results from month 2 |
| On conversion | A full-time Sales Development Representative role: competitive fixed pay with a lucrative variable tied to qualified meetings and the pipeline they become |
| The path | SDR is the first seat in the sales journey, not the last. Account Executive, then US field, US enterprise and team lead roles are all filled first from this floor |
| Real US SaaS | US customers, US hours, a US-scale market and a product dealers renew. A closing floor record on US deals is worth something anywhere |
| Investment in you | Structured product certification, a domain curriculum built for people entering auto retail from outside it, and a weekly review of your recorded calls |
The Opportunity
There are roughly 70,000 car dealerships in the US, and the franchised half alone turned over more than $1.3 trillion last year (NADA). Most stores are owned by someone who runs 1 to 5 of them, so a general manager can say yes without a procurement committee. A phone call from Gurgaon can start a deal that closes in weeks.
We are live in under 3% of that market. The plan is to grow the business 10x by December 2028, and inside sales carries around 75% of it through 2026. Every one of those deals begins with a qualified meeting, and qualified meetings begin in this seat. You would be at the very front of the fastest-growing part of the company.
What You Will Do
• Build your territory. A named list of US rooftops. Research each one before the first dial: inventory size, how long their cars take to get online, who runs used, who runs the internet department.
• Get past the front desk. Cold calls and short emails in US hours, to the used car manager or GM who feels the problem. Every day a car sits unlisted costs them $37 to $75. Your first question is how long that takes at their store.
• Book meetings that happen. A qualified meeting into an Account Executive's calendar, with the right person, confirmed and showing up. You own the show rate.
• Hand it over warm. Notes the AE can use in the first 60 seconds: what the store runs today, what they said hurts, who else decides.
• Learn the business first. Your first month is the glossary, the roles inside a dealership and how a store makes money, before you are on the phone. Two rules we screen for: never invent a dealership statistic, and always say where a number comes from.
How You Are Measured, and How You Convert
Targets are set in week one and reviewed weekly. Later stages of the funnel weigh more than earlier ones.
| Qualified meetings set | Booked with the right person at a store that fits, and accepted as qualified by the Account Executive |
| Show rate | The share of booked meetings where the buyer actually turns up |
| Pipeline that converts | What your meetings became: opportunities opened, deals closed. Tracked to the deal, credited to you |
| Call review scores | Every call is recorded. A weekly review scores research, opening, discovery and the ask for the meeting |
At month 6 there is a formal review against a bar you are shown in week one. Clear it and you convert to a full-time Sales Development Representative on the terms above. The bar is real, and we would rather you know that on day one than in month 5.
What We Are Looking For
Must-haves
• 0 to 2 years of experience, any function. Fresh graduates and early-career people from anywhere are welcome. You may never have sold anything. We screen for what follows.
• Spoken English that holds on a US phone line. Clear, unhurried, understood the first time by a busy manager. Accent is not the test. Being understood is.
• US hours, on site in Gurgaon. Evenings and nights IST, for the program and for the role after it.
• Comfortable hearing no. Most calls do not turn into meetings. You stay polite on the next dial and treat the pattern as data, not as a verdict on you.
• Curious and numbers-literate. You want to learn how a US dealership makes money, and you can hold the days-and-dollars math in your head on a call without misquoting it.
• Coachable on tape. Every call is recorded and reviewed. The trainees who convert bring their worst call to the review, not their best.
• Keeps commitments. Met, or renegotiated before they are missed. Including the confirmation you promised a dealer at 11pm IST. This is what we screen hardest for.
Helps, but is not a filter
• Any job that put you on the phone with strangers: inside sales, support, telecalling, a BDC, fundraising. • Exposure to US customers or US working hours.
• An interest in cars or in how retail businesses run, or familiarity with a CRM.
How the Six Months Run
| Days 1 to 30 | Studio certification, the glossary, the roles table, and 40 recorded calls listened to and scored. Shadowing live calls and demos |
| Days 30 to 90 | Your own territory and your own dials. First qualified meetings, with a senior SDR reviewing your research and recordings weekly. Targets start counting |
| Days 90 to 180 | Full expectations on every measure. You sit in on the demos your meetings produced and start running the discovery portion yourself |
| Month 6 | The conversion review |
What This Program Is Not :
It is not a rotation: Management Trainee is the title, Sales Development is the seat, and you are on the phone from week 5. It is not a guaranteed conversion, it is not a script, and it is not an IST working day. We would rather you know all three now than in week 3.
